I have understood from somewhere, though I don't remember the source, that there are more out of church christians in Europe, than perhaps here (usa). Europe (based on my limited understanding) is more secular than ever, and many attend home fellowships there, more than churches. I don't really know. That is what I heard recently.
Churches here are caught up in all sorts of stuff that is gimmic in nature. The intention of the flesh replaces the Spirit. And even in the churches where the Spirit is powerful, they revel in manifestations of the Spirit, which is ok, except that it is like, still being on baby food. It is not where HE intends us to stop and dwell. But most spend their entire Christian life there, in the nursery, on baby food.
And it is a hard sell, to convince them, since they think their way is the right way, and the only way, when they have not even discovered the way that He wants them to discover. But they will not see it for their 'program', or doctrine, or the the lifestyle that they deem Godly. They are right and the others wrong, invariably. So they are out to convince you, rather than be convinced.
And since scripture can be twisted so many ways to sound like the truth, they stick with what they understand. It is simple insecurity.
There is a parable about that. It is the one about a house being built on the rock rather than the sinking sand. Well! The ones on sinking sand are part of the community too. They are not the phonies. But they do not yet see that they are on sinking sand, for they do not know what it means to be on the Rock! Oh, their songs sound good to be sung. However, they don't even live the power of the very songs that they sing.
So, I am not welcome there, which is to say (You may find this strange) that Jesus is not welcome there. They want 'something about Him', rather than Him. But they do not see it that way. And until they do, and drop to the knees of their heart and seek, they will be stuck there.

Hi
Having been an "out of church" christian for a long time I did a little research to find out there are many christians who love the Lord Jesus but who are not connected in any way wih a church. The reasons are many and varied.
I have therefore developed a very simple website to seek views from out of church christians as to what is stopping them going to church.
If you are such a christian please take 3 minutes to visit the website and complete the simple survey. If you are a christian in church and know of out of church christians, would you please pass the website details to them.
