STABBING IN KEDUMIM

An Arab terrorist from a northern Shomron village stabbed a Jewish man this morning at the Kedumim gas station, west of Shechem in Samaria. First to respond was a station worker who succeeded only partially in pushing the terrorist away. The target of the attack, a dentist from Shavei Shomron, was able to draw his personal weapon and shoot the terrorist, who was then shot to death by alert IDF reserve soldiers. One of the soldiers who arrived at the scene soon learned that it was his father who was stabbed. The man sustained light injuries and was transported to a hospital in Petach Tikvah.

In the last 24 hours alone, Israeli security services have apprehended three intended suicide bombers and discovered and dismantled a very large bomb - containing dozens of kilograms of explosives - intended for use in a terrorist attack. This morning, IDF soldiers apprehended a suicide bomber with an explosives vest wrapped around his body, in Atarot, just north of Jerusalem. The terrorist was apprehended when he tried to jump over the partition fence separating the industrial zone from Arab-populated areas. Sappers disposed of the bomb without incident. The two other would-be suicide mass murderers were a 15-year-old girl from the Bethlehem region and a 23-year-old female teacher from el-Arub, between Gush Etzion and Hevron.

In other war news, soldiers destroyed a weapons factory in Hevron last night... IDF forces arrested seven wanted terrorists and 26 others suspects in operations in Hevron, Bir Zeit, and other areas... Two soldiers were lightly wounded by gunfire during the operation in Tubas... A bomb was detonated against soldiers in northern Gaza; no one was hurt, and the troops returned fire... Soldiers were shot at in southern Gaza...

UPDATE ON DVIR'S SURGERY

Eighth-grader Dvir Musai, who was wounded on Tuesday on his way back from a school cherry-picking trip in a field near Hevron, is "in better condition, but still needs much heavenly mercies." So said his father today, after his son was operated on in a Jerusalem hospital. Dvir (ben Chanah Dvorah), who is still in the intensive care unit, is suffering from severe wounds to his legs and lower back area. "We ask that anyone who can should recite prayers and Psalms on Dvir's behalf," his father said. Two other boys - Evyatar ben Dvorah and Elyashiv Eliyahu ben Hadassah - were also injured in the blast, which was set off when one of the boys stepped on the small gas canister filled with metal and glass pieces. They are suffering from burns and other wounds, and though they are out of intensive care, there is no word yet on when they will be released from the hospital.

Please keep praying for these boys.

SYRIAN-U.S. MEETING OFF

Today's scheduled meeting between US President George Bush and Syrian Foreign Minister Farouk a-Shara has been canceled. So reports El Manar, Hizbullah's television station in Syria. Officials in Washington reportedly told the Syrian Minister that he would not be received warmly, whereupon he said he would not show up. Tensions between the US and Syria result from the recent suicide bombing at the Megiddo Junction in Israel, in which 17 Israelis were killed - and for which the Syrian Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility.

Israel's Ambassador to the United Nations, Yehuda Lancry, said yesterday that Syria should not be permitted to serve on the Security Council because of its support for terrorism.

UPDATE ON PAKISTAN BOMBING

It has been confirmed that a suicide/homicide bomber drove his explosive filled vehicle into a concrete barrier in front of the US Consulate in Karachi, Pakistan killing 11 and injuring 45. The US has issued a strong condemnation of the bombing.

No Americans were killed but one Marine suffered light wounds from flyng debris.

Shalom,
Barbara
