Re; Joyce Meyer

Together, We're Making a World of Difference!
Reaching out to those in need has always been very important to Dave and Joyce. And because of the faithful prayers and financial gifts of our friends and partners, Joyce Meyer Ministries has been able to meet both the physical and spiritual needs of many. Here is a snapshot of some of the ministries you are helping to make happen:

View the list of outreaches and humanitarian programs you support through us

BUILDING CHURCHES AND SCHOOLS TO HELP THE PERSECUTED CHURCH
Dozens of new churches and Bible schools are built each year through the support of Joyce Meyer Ministries. We also provide special aid to persecuted believers in areas that are hostile to the Gospel, like Cuba, China, Vietnam, Egypt, and Bangladesh.

CONFERENCES
In 2004 Joyce Meyer Ministries held sixteen national and two international conferences.

Additionally, over the past couple of years, Joyce Meyer Ministries has held international conferences in Kampala, Uganda; Sydney, Australia; Belfast, Ireland; London, England; Birmingham, England; Toronto, Ontario; Hyderabad, India; and Johannesburg, South Africa, with two more international conferences planned for later in 2005. We have also hosted and helped sponsor many other international conferences in cooperation with other ministries. These included two conferences in Jamaica, three on the continent of Africa, one in the Philippines, and a special pastors and Christian leadership conference in Israel. It was there that Joyce ministered to nearly 70 percent of the Christian leaders in Israel.

In September of 2005 Joyce will be ministering for the first time in Germany to leaders and Christians from across the country. She will also be holding an international conference in Brasilia, Brazil in November.

FEEDING PROGRAMS
For many years, we have had the privilege of teaming up with many ministries across the globe to provide food for children, youth, pastors, and lepers. Some of these ministries include International Crisis Aid, Jack Harris Global Ministries, YWAM (Youth with a Mission), Don Clowers Ministries, Children's Cup, Love & Care Youth Center, Los Angeles Dream Center, and Urban Youth Impact. Joyce Meyer Ministries helps provide over 3.5 million meals each year to many people in many different lands.

RESOURCES
To date, Joyce Meyer Ministries has printed more than 8 million copies of over fifty-three of Joyce's books in sixty-three foreign languages including Arabic, Chinese, Spanish, French, German, Korean, Russian, and Hebrew. More are being printed as we speak. In 2004, Joyce Meyer Ministries distributed over 5 million CDs, cassette tapes, and books. The thousands of testimonies that we receive confirm that the Word of God is changing people's lives.

HOPE FOR THE CHILDREN ORPHANAGES
Through the support of our partners, Joyce Meyer Ministries has established and supports many orphanages around the world. Currently we fully fund and operate 41 orphanages across Asia, in countries such as India, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Nepal and Bhutan. In addition to providing home cooked meals and a clean and safe environment, these orphanages also serve to meet the children's spiritual needs. As in every area of ministry, the teaching of God's Word and prayer are both emphasized. In the arms of God, these children learn that they are not outcasts or burdens to society--they are priceless treasures!

MEDICAL CARE
Because of our partners we recently opened a hospital in a remote part of India, which is making free health care available to over 100,000 people in the surrounding villages. We also care for lepers in India, those affected by AIDS in Africa and India, and provide free health care in various parts of Asia.

BUILDING CHURCHES AND SCHOOLS TO HELP THE PERSECUTED CHURCH
Dozens of new churches and Bible schools are established each year through the support of Joyce Meyer Ministries. We also provide special aid to persecuted believers in areas that are hostile to the Gospel, like Cuba, China, Vietnam, Egypt, and Bangladesh.

PRISONS By the grace of God, the help of numerous volunteers, and the financial support of friends and partners, we are reaching out...to proclaim freedom for the prisoners. (See Luke 4:18 NIV.) To date, our prison outreach has distributed 1,087,646 hygiene gift bags throughout 1,328 prisons in 47 states and the nations of Jamaica, Costa Rica, Canada, Nicaragua, Belize, Bahamas, Fiji, Honduras, India, Kenya, Panama, Mexico, Tasmania, and Turks and Caicos Islands. Each bag consists of a bottle of shampoo, a bar of soap, and a Joyce Meyer book. The response has been overwhelming.

TELEVISION AND RADIO BROADCASTS
Joyce Meyer's Enjoying Everyday Life program is broadcast on over 630 television stations and on hundreds of radio stations around the world, in 25 languages, reaching most of the globe. Without question, broadcast is the most effective means of communicating the Gospel that we have at our disposal.

ST. LOUIS DREAM CENTER
Since its grand opening in October 2000, the St. Louis Dream Center continues to reach the people of the inner city of St. Louis with a caring hand of hope. Through a team of volunteers and trained staff, we reach out into the community, providing food, clothing, and friendships to neighboring residents. The St. Louis Dream Center has established several ministries, including outreaches to the homeless, nursing home residents, prostitutes, and neighborhood children. Its facilities also include a church, where people can worship and learn about the Lord each Sunday. There are two services at the Dream Center on Sunday morning, first service is at 9:00 am and the second service is at 11:00 am. Every Friday night from 7 pm until 10 pm, a trained ministry team from the St. Louis Dream Center goes into the streets of the inner city of St. Louis to minister to the homeless. We share the love of Christ by providing things like food, drinks, blankets, and clothing, as well as interacting with the people. The St. Louis Dream Center also sends out ministry teams every week to visit anywhere from 600-650 people who are living in senior complexes and nursing homes in the St. Louis area. At each gathering, they share songs, scriptures, and testimonies to encourage and teach the residents about salvation, healing, and the Holy Spirit.

TSUNAMI RELIEF
Since December of 2004 we have been intensely involved in tsunami relief efforts due to our ongoing extensive involvement in that part of the world. Immediately after the disaster took place, we had 3,000 people on the ground providing emergency assistance and taking care of over 30,000 people. The short term aid included food, water, medical assistance, cleanup, blankets, cooking supplies, and shelter. We are currently in the process of completely rebuilding three villages that were destroyed by the tsunami in India and Sri Lanka. This translates into hundreds of houses and boats, supplies, many bicycles for transportation, rickshaws, businesses, and the food and basic items necessary for daily living. This effort was made possible by the overwhelming outpouring of compassion by our partners, and 100% of funds donated to this effort goes directly into our tsunami relief.

In addition, Joyce Meyer Ministries is building a Christian residential school for tsunami orphans. This will enable many children to live with extended family and receive a proper education.

This is only a small portion of all that Joyce Meyer Ministries is doing all over the world with your help.

~Before someone comes along and says that good works won't get you into heaven, I better add that I agree that this is true for the unsaved, but these preachers profess to be converted , SO this scripture will apply to them.

Matthew 7:20
Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them

I REST MY CASE - I DON'T HAVE ANYTHING FURTHER TO ADD TO THIS THREAD.

Free Cleft Palate Surgeries Transform Lives of Poor Children in India

While 400 Christian Mission hospitals have closed down in the last 40 years in India, Benny Hinn Ministries through Calcutta Mercy Hospital is taking the saving, healing power of Jesus Christ to the world. Benny Hinn Ministries works along with Calcutta Mercy Ministries (www.buntain.org) and with Missionary Huldah Buntain and Bonnie Buntain-Long to provide free health care to 40,000 children and the poor of India every year.

Mark & Huldah Buntain, along with their daughter Bonnie, arrived in Calcutta (India) in October, 1954. The first time the Buntain’s mentioned their interest in the medical needs of the poor was when a little girl fainted in their first school. The Buntain’s rushed her to one of the Calcutta local hospital. Seeing the congested condition broke their heart. It was then they committed themselves “not only to educate and feed these children but also medically treat them."

The first Christian Mission hospital was opened in Calcutta in the year 1977. Today, this is a 173 bed hospital and a School of Nursing which treats over 100,000 patients every year. Every month, thanks to the faithful support of Benny Hinn Ministries, 40% are provided free treatment. In the city of Calcutta (India), where the population exceeds 18 million people, there are many children who are victims of poverty and disease and have no place to go to. Touching children and the poor with the love of Christ remains the focus of this Christian hospital.

The most recent free cleft surgery camp for children was held at the hospital from November 13th to 18th, 2005. Cleft lip and cleft palate are not as rare as people think they are. Together they constitute the fourth most common birth defect. One out of every 700 newborns is born with a cleft lip and/or cleft palate. In 45% of cases they occur together. Children born with cleft lips or cleft palates have been operated free at the hospital. This small operation is making a huge difference in the lives of children and their family.

From one-year old girl Asmina Khatoon to sixteen- year old young lady Saraswati Sardar, thirteen lovely children were provided with free surgery and post-operative care at the Calcutta hospital in November 2005.

Saraswati was sixteen year old when she came to the hospital. Before coming to us she would look at the mirror and be tempted to take a needle and stitch up her marred upper lip. Her family members would watch her and shake their head in disbelief. Poverty prevented her from getting operated. However, if she did not get help, the reality would be that no one would want to marry her.

All that nine-year old boy Swaranil Dev wanted to do was to pronounce his name loudly and clearly. He wanted his friends to stop teasing and making fun of him. It takes only $250 to operate on a poor child and yet there are many family who do not have that kind of money.

It is not surprising to see children staying at home rather then going to school. Children with cleft and lip problem do not want to go out of their home as they have such a low self esteem.

Children suffering with cleft lip problem and their family members feel that they are cursed. “Bachua ke honth mein grahan lag gaya” (“The eclipse has left its mark on the child’s lip”). Many do nothing about this problem as they feel that rectifying a child’s lip will make the curse shift onto the entire family. Many cannot because they are poor.

In such a challenging context, things are changing as doctors at the Calcutta Mercy Hospital are able to repair the cleft lips and cleft palates of poor children and work through the superstitions of the people. These beautiful children whose faces and smiles are marred and disfigured since birth are treated free of charge and return home with beautiful smiles. The Bible puts it so clearly: “Let the little children come to me and stop keeping them away. For the kingdom of God belongs to people like these.” (Mark 10:14)

In November, when poor little Amina came to us, she had serious chest congestion and cold. The nurses at the hospital took care of her. In the meantime bad news arrived that the grandmother of Amina had died in her village. Anima’s mother (Alewara Bibi) left Amina with us at the hospital. Alewara asked us to "take care of her daughter as one of our own".

The need is so great and the cry for help is so loud. The hospital in India is committed to taking care of beautiful Amina and with your help many others like Amina. The next free surgery camp is scheduled for February 2006. Please pray that these events bring healing to babies and children and we are be able to touch them with the love of Christ.

~(Benny Hinn Ministries supports many other Missions as well)

Amen - how can we be sure we are not killing the spirit of one of God's anointed ones?

1 Sam. 10: 1 Then Samuel took a flask of oil and poured it on Saul's head and kissed him, saying, "Has not the LORD anointed you leader over his inheritance?

2 Sam. 1:12-16 They mourned and wept and fasted till evening for Saul and his son Jonathan, and for the army of the LORD and the house of Israel, because they had fallen by the sword.

David said to the young man who brought him the report, "Where are you from?" "I am the son of an alien, an Amalekite," he answered.

David asked him, "Why were you not afraid to lift your hand to destroy the LORD's anointed?"

Then David called one of his men and said, "Go, strike him down!" So he struck him down, and he died. For David had said to him, "Your blood be on your own head. Your own mouth testified against you when you said, 'I killed the LORD's anointed.' "

~How would we have judged Saul???

You do make a good point HisGrace. Those in the public eye are fodder for the poison pen.

I am in advertising. Believe me, I am hyper aware of how words and visuals are used to sway public opinion. The media, regardless of the specific medium, is extremely powerful. We do have to be very careful regarding our sources when sharing information with others.

When you hear me speak of Kenneth Copeland or Joyce Meyer for instance, it's because I have seen and/or heard them myself. It has nothing to do with what someone else wrote. Others may have given interviews or written books, so their words are out there for all to see, hear, and comment on.

To my recollection, most of the tv evangelists who have been discussed here, have condemned themselves through their own words and/or actions. It is not surprising then, that others would seek to sound a warning. This is how you come up with all the articles.

If one reads an article first, as opposed to having first-hand information, then one needs to investigate before passing on what could be false information. However, just because you (plural) don't agree with or like the information, it doesn't mean it's false or wrong to expose.

The scriptures admonish us to be Berean, to beware false teaching, to warn others, and to name names. It doesn't seem like exposing false teaching then, falls under the category of gossip from a biblical view.

And you're right. The devil is indeed on the attack. And he uses the apathetic church to fight fellow brethren who don't fall for his lies and stand for Truth instead. Brilliant, isn't it? He attacks from within; uses the weak (non-discerning) to discourage the strong (biblically sound).

The path is indeed very narrow and few will find it. (Matthew 7:14).

We have had nothing but rave reviews about Charles Stanley and the late Adrian Rogers on this Board, but even they are not immune to the poison pen. We have to be so careful what we repeat about TV evangelists, probably many articles being written from a Pharisee/Pagan mentality. What would Jesus think?

Just a small portion of an open letter to Dr. Stanley - r-e-a-l-l-y [Roll Eyes]

"Like many who embrace an unconditional eternal security for the believer in Christ, you have greatly down played the seriousness of sinning after salvation. Unlike Paul, the real grace teacher, your teachings seem to be giving a "license for immorality"

Re: Dr. Adrian Rogers - Good Report
"Going to Bellevue Baptist Church was such a blessing, Jesus is glorified, the Gospel is preached, and brotherly love is demanded from the pastor to all who attend. The Gospel was proclaimed with clarity and conviction by pastor Adrian Rodgers. I was truly moved by his passion and love for the lost, his life is an example for any Christian that would strive to honor Christ. "

From the Pharisees - Bad Report

"ADRIAN ROGERS & BELLEVUE BAPTIST SPEAKERS- Dr. Adrian Rogers is a former president of the Southern Baptist Convention and a very effective orator. He delivered a strong keynote message at the National Religious Broadcasters convention in Nashville last year. His popular "Love Worth Finding" is carried by the charismatic TBN and also by Tennessee Temple's WDYN. The problem is that he preaches truth but promotes errorists."

What is wrong with this picture? The problem is that 'wrong words' can plant seeds of doubt into sensitive minds and can turn people away from something that may greatly enrich their lives.

The devil is on the attack, like with Jesus -

Matthew 9:34
But the Pharisees said, "It is by the prince of demons that he drives out demons."

Sin is the very reason that killed our spirit during the very early stages of life. It started with Eve and followed with her husband Adam. Because God is not a respector of persons, any sin whether great or small separates us from God, I have been studying this subject "SIN". In the book of James, It declares that the tongue of all body parts is very hard to tame. PSALMS 12-Is an excellent chapter about sin and the tongue.

PSALMS 12:1) HELP, LORD FOR THE GODLY MAN CEASES! FOR THE FAITHFULL DISAPPEAR FROM AMONG THE SONS OF MEN. 2) THEY SPEAK IDLY EVERYONE WITH HIS NEIGHBOR; WITH FLATTERING LIPS AND A DOUBLE HEART THEY SPEAK 3) MAY THE LORD CUT OFF ALL FLATTERING LIPS, AND THE TONGUE THAT SPEAKS PROUD THINGS, 4) WHO HAVE SAID, "WITH OUR TONGUE WE WILL PREVAIL; OUR LIPS ARE OUR OWN; WHO IS LORD OVER US?" 5) "FOR THE OPPRESSION OF THE POOR, FOR THE SIGHING OF THE NEEDY, NOW I WILL ARISE," SAYS THE LORD; " I WILL SET HIM IN THE SAFETY FOR WHICH HE YEARNS." 6) THE WORDS OF THE LORD ARE PURE WORDS, LIKE SILVER TRIED IN A FURNACE OF EARTH, PURIFIED SEVEN TIMES. 7) YOU SHALL KEEP THEM, O LORD, YOU SHALL PRESERVE THEM FROM THIS GENERATION FOREVER. 8) THE WICKED PROWL ON EVERY SIDE, WHEN VILENESS IS EXALTED AMONG THE SONS OF MEN.

Only abiding and whorshiping Jesus, can we attain the bridlement of our tongues which by the way destroys lives. All sin is categorized in these three situations: THE LUST OF THE FLESH, THE LUST OF THE EYES and THE PRIDE OF LIFE. (see Romans 3:23;I John 1:8; I John 2: 15, 16)

WE ABOVE ALL ( the christians) NEED TO BE READY TO GIVE A PROPER ANSWER OF THE CALLING WITHIN US. TRUST ME- THERE IS NOT A SOUL ON THIS CHRISTIANBBS THAT DOES NOT SIN AND THAT DOES NOT STUDY THE WORD DAILY, NOR ARE PERFECT. WE ARE TOTALLY SAVED BECAUSE WE CHOOSE TO OBEY THE GOSPEL OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST. The flipp side to all this is 2 THESS 1:8-9. If we do not obey the gospel, then we burn seven times etc... To make a point HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE A SINNER TO BE COMPLETELY WHOLE IN THE LORD?

THE ANSWER A LIFETIME.

SORRY I have been away for awhile- I am attending TRIPP BIBLE INSTITUTE. it is a great way to earn a degree and study the word!!

We as Christians have to be careful that we do not use the excuse that we are requesting prayer for someone to gossip. It is possible to request prayer with out going into the details of where our brother or sister failed. Yes, I believe we have all been guilty of this at least once.

People who gossip are sometimes guilty of using "words" for the wrong reasons. According to Jesus, "But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned." Matthew 12:36&37

I think gossip is one of the most subtle of sins. What about reading and agreeing with material that we are not certain if it is based on actual fact? Are we being drawn into a deceitful tactic of Satan?. [cool_shades]

Heavenstorm,
I agree. I have know people who gossip has become such a problem with them that they don't even realize when they do it. There are some sins that you commit never to commit again, but addictive sins are those sins that take hold of you. The Bible talks about how the tongue can destroy the body. One way to handle a gossip, is when someone wants to tell you dirt on someone is to stop that person and say let's pray together for them right now. And then bow your head and do so. This will take the wind out of most gossips. And if there is dirt on someone the person probably needs prayer.

Why differentiate between 'addictive' and 'sin'? All sin is addictive and is rooted in the addiction we each have with our own 'self.'

If I were to rank order sins, then pride would be #1.

In this poll you are aksed if Gossipping is worse than addictive sin. I say yes. Addictive sin can hurt you or even kill you and it tortures those who love you on an emotional level. Gosspiping destroys others around you and can destroy and divide a church.

Gossipping turns person against person, driving them away. When it drives one away from church they may fall away from thier Christianity. This has eternal consequences. I believe God can forgive someone who is addicted to something that kills them. But God isn't going to forgive someone who doesn't believe in His salvation.

Maybe it stems from unforgiveness. If you want to talk about unpardonable sins I think that's where the discussion should begin.

And if it stems from an unruly desire to cut someone down then there's something wrong with that person's Christian walk.

And when a church is divided they are crippled in thier ability to reach the unsaved. Imagine the consequences of that one!

Chris
