You’re Really Somebody
Col 3:9-11 Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him, where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcised nor uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave nor free, but Christ is all and in all.
Wow, the Apostle Paul had a way of getting right down where the problem is. (Smile) OK, let me take the liberty of continuing on - - My friend, what some individuals mistakenly refer to as “Spiritually significant,” has absolutely nothing to do with the color of one’s skin; it has everything to do with the contents of one’s heart.
I have dropped by today to tell that it makes no difference if your ancestors came over with Christopher Columbus, or bound in chains on a slave ship, for "there is neither slave nor free.”(Gal 3:28) If you’re attempting to impress others by being a social snob, get over it; in God’s eyes, your status doesn’t count!
If you think you’re better than someone else, because of your skin color, you’d better get that mess out of your mind. If you plan on spending eternity with God; you won’t find any segregation in Heaven! God will not force you to live throughout eternity in Heaven, beside a neighbor you think you’re superior too; He’ll let you find out you’re not, as you spend eternity in hell with the "father of lies" and his miserable lot. Hhmmm!!
Men, if you’re a chauvinist; ladies, if you are following the feminist movement, you’re both on the wrong track because God isn’t into the “gender” thing. His Word states, “there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”(Gal 3:28)
Regardless of whether you committed a crime in the past, or walked the streets as a prostitute, God observes your present, not your past. Don’t forget that Rahab (Josh 2:1) plied her trade as a harlot, until she turned her life over to God. Her name was listed with Abraham's wife, Sarah, because she also believed, and received a blessing from God.
My friend, there is only one thing that can create equality in God’s Eyes, that is “faith.” Forget your past failures, when you have faith, you can walk unembarrassed before God; forget what others think, your source is God, not them!
Remember the woman “who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up. But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, "Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity. And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.”(Luke 13:11-13)
If you will place your complete faith and trust in Jesus, you will also find the power to stand up "straight." Then you’ll discover “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus;”(Gal 3:28) then you can look around and see that we are all the same stature before God!
Whether you’re a well known TV evangelist, or the janitor in your church, black or white, rich or poor, you’re equal in God’s eyes. Come to think of it; you’re really somebody!!!
