How right you are; Who among us will take a neophyte under our wings, to guide, teach, correct, and love in Christ,to nurture so that this new Child of God can grow?

What a special task it is, and so rewarding.

God Bless

Joel

Scripture verses 7-12 from Chapter 2 of 1Thessalonians

A witness that is not believable will fail. Paul knew this and reminded the church that he had proved his genuine commitment to JESUS and his genuine love for them. Paul had no ulterior motives. As an apostle he had authority but he had not asserted his rights. His actions showed is commitment to the gospel and his deeds proved his love and concern for the Thessalonians. Opponents could point to no evidence of greed or deceit in his dealings in their city. Can your church's neighbors say the same? Is the genuineness of your faith evident in your actions?

I appreciate bold and genuine people. But I am especially drawn to those who are caring and encouraging at the same time. Boldness is a virtue but can be overdone to the point of being uncaring and unfeeling. Genuineness implies honesty; and speaking the truth is good, but honesty can be used as a club to embarrass or injure. A bold and genuine witness is most effective when tempered with a caring and encouraging spirit.

When Paul was with the people in Thessalonica, he didn't flatter them, didn't seek their praise, and didn't become a burden to them. He completely focused his effort on presenting GOD's message of salvation. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING!!! The lives of people change only as they hear and believe and allow JESUS to control them and their daily activities. When we witness for JESUS, our focus should not be on the impressions we make. As true ministers of JESUS we should point others to him and not to ourselves.

Gentleness is often overlooked as a personal trait in our society. Power and assertiveness sometimes gain more respect however, gentleness and love is the key for an effective witness. It tells the person that you are interested in them as a person and that you are interested in what is happening in they life. Maintaining a gentle attitude in your relationships with others is critical when the time comes to witness to them.

Just as Paul would not burden these new believers with asking them for financial support because of his love and care for them we need to be as considerate in our dealings with new believers. They need to learn the ways and commandments of JESUS but in a way that will build up and not tear down. No loving parent would neglect the safety of their children allowing them to walk into circumstances that might be harmful or fatal. In the same way, we must take new believers under our wing until they are mature enough to stand firm in their faith. We must help new Believers become strong enough to influence others for the sake of the gospel.

By his words and example, Paul encouraged these believers to live in such a way that would be worthy of GOD. Is there anything about your daily life that would embarrass JESUS? What do people think of GOD from watching you?

My hope and prayer is that JESUS is pleased with you and your life. However, if HE isn't, wouldn't this be a good time to ask HIS forgiveness, calling on HIM who hears and answers prayer.

May you continue to be blessed by HIM as you live your life through HIM.
