I had the honor of meeting him 3 years ago a Pastors conference in Beaumont...one of the humblest men I have ever meet....

the message he brought that night was one I will never forget...

he poured out his heart to all there of his failures in his personal life, there were over 1200 pastors there plus wives and children...

before he was finished preaching there were very few that were not on their face weeping...

David Wilkerson through his weakness showed the awesomeness of a Holy God, who takes surrendered hearts of men and shows His strengths...

Below is D. Wilkerson's last post. So amazing. God is faithful to tell us over and over to simply trust and receive His love.

WHEN ALL MEANS FAIL
by David Wilkerson | April 27, 2011

To believe when all means fail is exceedingly pleasing to God and is most acceptable. Jesus said to Thomas, “You have believed because you have seen, but blessed are those that do believe and have not seen” (John 20:29).

Blessed are those who believe when there is no evidence of an answer to prayer—who trust beyond hope when all means have failed.

Someone has come to the place of hopelessness—the end of hope—the end of all means. A loved one is facing death and doctors give no hope. Death seems inevitable. Hope is gone. The miracle prayed for is not happening.

That is when Satan’s hordes come to attack your mind with fear, anger, overwhelming questions: “Where is your God now? You prayed until you had no tears left. You fasted. You stood on promises. You trusted.”

Blasphemous thoughts will be injected into your mind: “Prayer failed. Faith failed. Don’t quit on God—just do not trust him anymore. It doesn’t pay!”

Even questioning God’s existence will be injected into your mind. These have been the devices of Satan for centuries. Some of the godliest men and women who ever lived were under such demonic attacks.

To those going through the valley and shadow of death, hear this word: Weeping will last through some dark, awful nights—and in that darkness you will soon hear the Father whisper, “I am with you. I cannot tell you why right now, but one day it will all make sense. You will see it was all part of my plan. It was no accident. It was no failure on your part. Hold fast. Let me embrace you in your hour of pain.”

Beloved, God has never failed to act but in goodness and love. When all means fail—his love prevails. Hold fast to your faith. Stand fast in his Word. There is no other hope in this world.

The Cross and the Switchblade

From Wikipedia,

The Cross and the Switchblade is a book written in 1963 by pastor David Wilkerson with John and Elizabeth Sherrill. It tells the true story of Wilkerson's first five years in New York City, where he ministered to disillusioned youth, encouraging them to turn away from the drugs and gang violence they were involved with.

The book became a best seller, with more than 15 million copies distributed in over 30 languages.

In 1970, a film adaptation was released, starring Pat Boone as David Wilkerson and Erik Estrada as Nicky Cruz, the teen gang member whose life was transformed by Wilkerson's ministry. The movie was dismissed by secular critics[who?] as uninteresting[citation needed]. However, it has been viewed by an estimated 50 million people in over 30 languages in 150 countries, according to World Film Crusade. [1]
In 1972, the book was adapted into a comic book published by Fawcett Comics under their Spire Christian Comics label.
In 1968, Cruz wrote the book Run Baby Run with Jamie Buckingham, telling the story of his life including coming to New York and being in the gang, and subsequently meeting Wilkerson and thereafter becoming an Evangelical Christian.

This afternoon David Wilkinson was tragically killed in a car accident in Texas. This is taken from his last blog post from this morning: To those going through the valley and shadow of death, hear this word: Weeping will last through some dark, awful nights—and in that darkness you will soon hear the Father whisper, “I am with you.
