1Jn 1:3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

That which we have seen and heard, we make known to you so that you may, by doing the same, have fellowship together with us. And our fellowship is not with ‘ideals’ but with the Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ. It is the fellowship HE desires for us to have with Him.

And so:

1Jn 1:4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.

…If you achieve such blessed fellowship!

1Jn 1:5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

Therefore:

1Jn 1:6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

That is, if we say that we have fellowship, but in truth we are lagging far behind, and lying even to ourselves, we lie about it and are not doing the truth.

1Jn 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

We are born sinners. If we do not recognize the fact, then we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.

1Jn 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

But if we ‘walk’ in the light, which we cannot possibly do if we are in sin, we HAVE Fellowship one with another, ourselves and our blessed and wonderful God. (That is the condition for it to happen.) And it is possible because, and only because, The Blood of Jesus CLEANSETH us from ALL. Say it again, ALL, sin!

That means that the blood of Jesus cleanses us of all sin, moment to moment as we ‘trust’ in His blood. And it is possible because:

1Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

If we [b]confess
our sins, HE is FAITHFUL, and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleans us from ALL unrighteousness.

But:

1Jn 1:10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

But we cannot be cleansed of ALL unrighteousness if we insist that we have not sinned. For we are not being honest with Him, and it starts with a true heart towards him.

1Jn 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not!!! And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

These things, I, John write unto you that ye sin not! No really! I mean it. (Now who would have thought of asking such a thing of us miserable little failures and sinners?)

1Jn 2:3 And hereby we do know that we knowing him, if we keep his commandments.

And hereby do we know that we actually are KNOWING Him, (get the gist?) if we abide in His commandments (and his commandments are not grievous). And we notice that he did not say, "Hereby do we know 'ABOUT' Him."

1Jn 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

And he that dare saith that he ‘knows’ God, and does not abide in His commandments, lies through his teeth, even though he has 'good' intentions towards God, and in spite of what he ‘says’, the truth is not in him. God may know him, but he doesn't know God the way God is longing for. (Remember, Peter and John were the one's talking this way, for our admonition. And it is strong stuff.)

1Jn 2:5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected:

But whoso KEEPETH His word, in him is the love of God Perfected! LOL! But only to those who; who….. Well, to some there is no one that fits that description, period, even though the word says that the very same IS all our calling, and that we are not to fall short of it. And these rationalize the word to fit their ‘unbelief’, and their lifestyle. And then they go around ‘accusing and excusing’ one another (Rom 2:15) as though scripture says that they are miserable failures, and therefore everyone should accept it.

But they overlook:

Rom 2:12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: but as many as have sinned IN (within) the law shall be judged by the law;

[I]hereby know we that we are in him.
1Jn 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

He that says that he KNOWS him as well as the next man, ought to walk, even as HE walked. So then, that means that one can just sin anyway, because after all, he cannot help it, and he can show scripture to prove it, and yet he still can consider that, “Walking as HE walked,” to silence the critics! Hum....

And here is exactly why we have an ObamaNation, because we rationalize HIS word, to justify ourselves and teach others to do so. But scripture says that "Salt that has lost its savor is fit only to be cast out and trodden under the feet of men."
