And then you go on and make a heap of assumptions that you ASSUME OTHER PEOPLE (but never YOU) are doing. Here is your list:

1. The trouble with the passage above is that it cannot be comprehended carnally.

2. It is not comprehended, so the hearer, or carnal Christian, 'adapts' it to his understanding as he does the other scriptures.

3. It cannot be comprehended without faith which is so often lacking...

4. So the hearer afixes a condition that will help him to understand.

5. But then the passage is distorted from the truth.

6. It is removed from God's purpose and design.

7. For when it becomes conditional upon what one 'does', then by the act of meriting it, it becomes annuled.

8. But the happy Christian carries on, sharing the joy, and teaching others to sin (not thinking so), and not seeing results, sadly.

9. But keep the chin up, he will say.

Eden here: So let me see if I understand this. FROM your home, YOU figured all this out, exactly what OTHER people are doing and/or not doing, from your own home?

Are you deriving these assumptions from a careful analysis of the participating members of this bbs, or did you do a careful analysis of your church's congregation, or, on what exactly do you base all these assumptions.

And lastly, is it fair for me to assume that YOU don't do ANY of these things yourself, what, anymore?

What? But thanks be to God, who 'giveth' us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1Co 15:57)

LOL)Yes! Thanks be to God who giveth, ol chap, IF.....

If?

The trouble with the passage above is that it cannot be comprehended carnally. It is not comprehended, so the hearer, or carnal Christian, 'adapts' it to his understanding as he does the other scriptures. It cannot be comprehended without faith, which is so often lacking, so the hearer afixes a condition that will help him to understand. But then the passage is distorted from the truth. It is removed from God's purpose, and design. For when it becomes conditional upon what one 'does', then by the act of meriting it, it becomes annuled. But the happy Christian carries on, sharing the joy, and teaching others to sin (not thinking so), and not seeing results, sadly. But keep the chin up, he will say.

[happyhappy] You didn't say what I thought you said?

[thumbsup2] But Ah did! Yet twas not me, but scripture see!

But thanks be to God who giveth if we go out into the highways and byways even if HE didn't tell us to. Thanks be to God if we fast till we are scrawny, and pray till our knees are too tender to kneel. Thanks be to God who giveth if we are a good neighbor. No! Not at all. You are these things by HIS Spirit if you are born of Him, if you are led of HIS Spirit. You do not become so by your own initiative. That is merit. That is the darkness of the unenlightend understanding. That is the darkness that the unrepentant abides in.

So, thanks be to God who giveth!

That's what the Israelites had to comprehend before they went to spy out the promised land. And what did some of them see? They returned and told the people that it could not be accomplished. They heeded their own understanding and rejected that it was God who giveth. They insulted the truth. They wounded God. Today we do so by afixing the condition 'IF'. For if God says "Done...." That is in line with 'having'. And that is because HE does the doing, and we reap the harvest.

You have a neighbor who is waiting to see this, who will not be saved until he is surprised by this. But you take it out of God's hands by striving, which is not faith. Faith bears fruit. Striving bears thorns.
