2 Peter 3:11-17
(11) Since all these things are to be destroyed in this way, what sort of people ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness,
(12) looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat!
(13) But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.
(14) Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, spotless and blameless,
(15) and regard the patience of our Lord as salvation; just as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you,
(16) as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.
(17) You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men and fall from your own steadfastness,

What can I add to this, Peter says it SOOO well

be in holy conduct and godliness

be diligent to be found by Him in peace, spotless and blameless

be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men and fall from your own steadfastness

Luke 18:28-30
(28) Peter said, "Behold, we have left our own homes and followed You."
(29) And He said to them, "Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God,
(30) who will not receive many times as much at this time and in the age to come, eternal life."

CONTEXT BA, CONTEXT

You only quote PART of the sentence.

That's how the enemy works, partial quoting and taking out of context.

The Christian "abundant life" IS NOT things.

I'm living "life more abundantly." How are YOU living, wparr?

John 10
10 The thief only comes to steal and to kill and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Luke 18:30
Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.

God bless, [Cross] BORN AGAIN

2 Peter 3:10
But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up.

EVERYTHING here on earth will be burned up, where are YOU investing your money.

A nice house?

A sleek car?

A comfy vacation resort?

Big Screen T.V. and entertainment center?

Nice clothes and Jewlry?

Stocks - bonds ect...?

Matthew 6:19-21
(19) "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.
(20) "But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal;
(21) for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Jesus doesn't say, "it's better not to store yourselves treasures on earth"

Jesus says "DO NOT store up for yourselves treasures on earth"

I take that as a command

John 14:15
If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.

But I'm going to take this beyond the "material"

2 Peter 3:10
But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and IT'S WORKS will be burned up.

Not ONLY will the physical be burned up, but works.

So then the question no also becomes

Where are you investing your works: your time, energy and efforts?

Watching T.V.?

Playing video games?

Listening to / playing secular music?

Matthew 6:19-21
(19) "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.
(20) "But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal;
(21) for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Does this verse speak about our works also, and not just the material?

I would say it applies to our time, energy and efforts also.

Ephesians 5:11-13
(11) Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them;
(12) for it is disgraceful even to speak of the things which are done by them in secret.
(13) But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light.

What are the unfruitful deeds of darkness?

Just "evil" things?

If darkness is the absence of light, and Jesus represents light, then could we not agree that anything NOT of Christ is unfruitful deeds of darkness?

Ephesians 5:15-17
(15) Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise,
(16) making the MOST of your time, because the days are evil.
(17) So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

How much of our time, effort, works are God's

How much of what we do, what we work at will survive The Day Of The LORD???
