thank you, wparr, for those additional comments. So everyone: LORD always translates the word Jehovah or Yahweh or YHWH in the KJV.

God bless, [Cross] BORN AGAIN

The Masoretes, who from about the 6th to the 10th century worked to reproduce the original text of the Hebrew Bible, replaced the vowels of the name YHWH with the vowel signs of the Hebrew words Adonai ("Lord", editor) or Elohim ("God", editor).

Thus, the artificial name Jehovah (YeHoWaH) (emphasis ours, ed.) came into being.

Although Christian scholars after the Renaissance and Reformation periods used the term Jehovah for YHWH, in the 19th and 20th centuries biblical scholars again began to use the form Yahweh.

Early Christian writers, such as Clement of Alexandria in the 2nd century, had used a form like Yahweh, and this pronunciation of the Tetragrammaton was never really lost.

Other Greek transcriptions also indicated that YHWH should be pronounced Yahweh.

I would differ on your point, I would say that KJV WAS NOT Faithful to the names, by REPLACING the names.

By using THE LORD instead of Yahweh (it is NOT Jehova - that is a made up name by people - it's YAHWEH)

It think being faithful to Yahweh's name would have been to KEEP His name in the Bible instead of replacing it with a title.

In the Tudor English King James version (KJV), the translators stay faithful to a group of names for of the Living Creator, and they are the following. Knowing which is which helps us become a closer Family member:

In the KJV:

God = always is Elohim in Hebrew (and approximately means "creator God of the earth")

LORD = is always Jehovah in Hebrew (and approximately means the Personal Living God who has chosen someone for His special people in the earth)

Lord = always is Adonai (and approximately means "absolute owner of the earth")

LORD God = always is Jehovah Elohim in Hebrew (and approximately means "the creator God who has chosen a special people for Himself")

Lord GOD = always is Jevohah Adonai in Hebrew. Let me explain this one. Because the Hebrew word Jehovah becomes LORD in English and because the Hebrew word Adonai becomes Lord in English, the result was LORD Lord and that sounded odd to the translators of the KJV who therefore made it “Lord GOD”, with GOD in all capital letters.

So Lord GOD is always Jevohah Adonai in Hebrew, or LORD Lord, and that means the God who has chosen someone as His special people {Jehovah or LORD} is in league with “the absolute owner of the earth” (with Adonai).

So when you see these words in the KJV, pay attention to how they are spelled and you will know who is being talked about:

Is it God Elohim?
Is it the LORD Jehovah?
Is it the LORD God Jehovah Elohim?
Is it the Lord Adonai?
Is it the Lord GOD Jehovah Adonai?

Hope this helps someone get a deeper understanding of the names of the Family of the Creator with Whom we have to do.

God bless, [Cross] BORN AGAIN
