I had always thought that Simeon initially got a part of Judah because Judah's inheritance was too big:
Joshua 19:9 Out of the portion of the children of Judah was the inheritance of the children of Simeon; for the part of the children of Judah was too much for them: therefore the children of Simeon had their inheritance within the inheritance of them.
But after the split occurred in Rehoboam's day, ten tribes stayed with Jeroboam's kingdom and three tribes were Judah's kingdom (Judah-Benjamin-Levi).
Since there were only a total of 13 tribes (Joseph became two tribes), was Simeon therefore with northern Israel?
If so, did Simeon abandon its inheritance within Judah?
God bless, BORN AGAIN
