Interesting post. I'm not sure that I buy #17, but it isn't that important. Also, I'm not sure what the implication of the email is. Iraq is in the news now, but just about every Middle Eastern country has been big in the news over the last 40 years at one point or another. The role of the Middle East in our times is clearly of great importance, but I'm not sure about the importance of any specific nation (except Israel), at least not yet. Nevertheless, I'm never to old to learn.
