It is. A copyright is something to protect the producer of original material. It's the artist's. You own 1 copy of the material; If you own a CD and give it away, you lose your copy - it's 1:1 ratio. To give away copies of someone else's work is to steal from the owner. It's no different then handing a carjacker someone else's keys.
I was on a usenet thread where one "Christian" had uploaded the soundtrack to the Passion. Others had chastized him on a related usenet group, and he basicly said, "yea, I did it". He owned 1 copy but was making available more than 1 copy (he had no control over how many copies were downloaded).
Hearing the word is the start. Living the word is the challenge.
PS - My Church's website offers free sermon mp3s and everyone is welcome to them. You can't steal what someone gives away, so help yourselves!
