Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Background

Greetings from China. My name is C.Y. I am an overseas Chinese Christian professional who feels strongly about the Lord’s great commission in China, especially in terms of evangelising to young mainland Chinese youths and young working adults between 18 and 35 years of age.

Together with a few other fellow Christian professionals who work in China, we intend to establish an IT service company in China as a vehicle for doing God’s work. The proposed company would develop three main service lines – education and training; project and manpower outsourcing; and consulting. The purpose of the said company is to achieve the following objectives:

1. Provide postings and roles for brothers and sisters who would like to participate in the above evangelisation effort by working at the front line in China.
2. Seed planting amongst our trainees in the target audience group through IT education and training.
3. Help to develop and maintain those of our trainees who have turned to Christ through avenues such as employment, outsourcing contract placement and pathway for overseas further education, so that they can in turn evangelise to others.

The first stage of the company’s operation would be the establishment of the education and training arm to offer an one-year intensive IT professional training program. This program provides trainees with both tertiary academic qualification and vendor certification by combining theory with hands-on experience. There would be different specialisation streams – system development, business analysis, network engineering, system administration and electronic commerce. The intention is to recruit from amongst these trainees to staff software development outsourcing projects and manpower outsourcing requirements from targeted overseas markets.

We are asking for a sign from God of his approval of this proposed venture by allowing us to successfully recruit by the end of this July the necessary core team members for the education and training unit.

Recruitment Requirements

The necessary full-time core team roles required, their key job responsibilities and the key candidate attributes sought are as follows.

Four specialisation leaders with one for each in (1) system development; (2) business analysis, (3) network engineering and system administration; and (4) electronic commerce.

The essential personal attributes for all the above roles are:

· Attention to details
· Perseverance and patience

· Good health

The general terms of remuneration are as follows.

1. Minimum monthly compensation package of US$900 for the first year (with scope for adjustment during the year depending on the company’s progress in meeting or exceeding financial projection)
2. Furnished accommodation provided
3. Statutory Chinese public holidays and company annual leave
4. One year initial employment contract with the view of switching to permanent arrangement by the end of the period
5. Company ownership plan, bonus scheme and reimbursement of airfare to be offered as part of the permanent employment condition
6. Flexible-hours working arrangement to meet course and project delivery schedules as well as personal and evangelisation requirements (it is anticipated that subjects would be delivered on weeknights and weekends to part-timers whilst during weekdays to full-timers)

Recruitment Process and Timetable

The general recruitment schedule that we are going to undertake would be as follows.

1. Distribute this notice widely amongst individual Christians and Christian organizations and asking them to forward it to others who may like to involve in this ministry and venture
2. Solicit cv from interested brothers and sisters
3. Conduct phone interviews initially and followed by face-to-face interviews if possible as and when expression of interest comes in
4. Compile a short list of suitable candidates by the beginning of the fourth week of July and conduct final discussion and reference checks during that week
5. Select final candidates by the end of July
6. Discuss offers with and collect health check-up results from final candidates during August
7. Confirm offers with and issue employment contract to final candidates by the start of September

Transition Arrangement and Timetable

Once the brothers and/or sisters have accepted our offers, then the following transition arrangement would take place.

1. We will liaise with them in terms of training design so that program delivery preparation can start whilst they serve out their notice period and settle the necessary matters at home prior to departure for China
2. We will also initiate in October the necessary paperwork to secure visa and permit for the employees so that they can arrive in China by January at the latest in time for a two-week orientation/training/team building program and the subsequent commencement of the course delivery after the Chinese New Year

Other Miscellaneous Issues

The following points are also worth mentioning:

1. Given the nature of the venture, the identity of the Chinese city in which the proposed company would be based is considered sensitive. But the city is one with modern infrastructure and amenities as well as a supportive network of fellow Christians.
2. Whilst we have sufficient capital to launch the business, we welcome enquiries from brothers and sisters who would like to explore the opportunity of becoming supporter-investors or co-venturers to a venture that has relatively low downside risk but good upside potential in terms of both the Lord’s work and financial return. A project summary including information on the business model and value propositions is available upon request.
3. We also encourage brothers and sisters who may have the necessary capacity and expertise to consider cooperating with and supporting us in the next stage of the company’s business which is the provision of IT outsourcing services in terms of software development and manpower placement. We intend to establish a network of overseas agents or representatives to provide us with leads and support for securing such contracts so that we can retain as many of our promising and hopefully Christian trainees as possible and have the opportunities to place them abroad for further growth in their faith and ability. We would like to have such a network in place as soon as possible given the lead time required for establishing awareness amongst prospective clients.
4. Brothers and sisters who are interested in short-term assignments of minimum 1-month duration are encouraged to provide us with their cv as well since we want as many with an interest in evangelisation in China as possible to participate in this ministry and venture. Areas of ministry open to short-term assignments include IT and English training; and spiritual development of and evangelisation to trainees. For details on the subjects that can be taught under the four specialisation streams, please do not hesitate to contact us for we would be delighted to provide a subject listing with synopsis. Full board and possibly a per diem allowance would be provided.

In closing I thank you for spending your valuable time in reading this rather lengthy email and your support in passing this on to others. I would also like to ask you to pray for our venture so that the business is carried out faithfully in accordance with the vision, purpose and objectives for which it is created, as well as for the conveners and team members to be guided by God in facing and overcoming the many daunting challenges that Satan would no doubt throw in their way. If you would like to contact me concerning any aspect of this email, feel free to email me at mnichina@hotmail.com

Yours in Christ,

C.Y.
